Circuit de Charade lies near Clermont-Ferrand in central France, laid out on roads encircling an extinct volcano. It hosted the French Grand Prix in 1965, 1969, 1970 and 1972. Renowned for its relentless sequence of tight curves and elevation changes, it was likened to a twistier version of the Nürburgring, and its demands reportedly left some drivers unwell.
