Hungaroring

Hungary · 41 grands prix

The Hungaroring, near Budapest, Hungary, hosted the first F1 race behind the Iron Curtain in 1986 and the Hungarian Grand Prix ever since. A tight, twisty circuit often likened to a go-kart track, where track position is everything.

The first braking zone after the pit straight, which was lengthened by around 200 metres in 2003 to aid overtaking, and the lap's main passing spot. Named for Nelson Piquet, who won the first two Hungarian Grands Prix and passed Ayrton Senna around the outside here in the inaugural 1986 race.
Named for Lewis Hamilton, the most successful driver at the circuit with eight wins and nine poles.
Named for the Valley of the Three Springs; a chicane here was removed in 1989 after a natural spring was found and culverted away.
Named for Nigel Mansell. The official rationale is his clinching the 1992 title here, while Wikipedia ties the name to his 1987 wheel loss; Felipe Massa suffered his serious head injury here in 2009 qualifying, struck by a spring from Barrichello's car at 261 km/h.
Named for Mogyorod, the municipality that hosts the circuit.
Named for the driver-training facility beside the track, the first of its kind in Hungary.
The second part of the Driving Centre complex.
Named for Buda, the hilly historic western half of Budapest.
Named for Pest, the flat eastern half of Budapest, paired with Buda.
Named for the River Danube that divides Buda from Pest.
Named for Jean Alesi after a heavy 1995 practice crash here; fans used the name before it became official.
Named for Michael Schumacher, a four-time Hungarian Grand Prix winner who clinched his fourth Drivers' Championship here in 2001 with four races to spare.
Named for Ayrton Senna, the pole-sitter for the inaugural 1986 Hungarian Grand Prix.
Named for Ferenc Szisz, the Hungarian-born driver who won the first Grand Prix ever held, the 1906 French Grand Prix, for Renault.
