Turn 1: Tamburello (Turn 1) The first corner, once a flat-out curve and now the first apex of a chicane. Ayrton Senna was killed here on 1 May 1994 when his Williams left the track at around 305 km/h; the corner was rebuilt into a chicane afterward.
Turn 2: Tamburello (Turn 2) The second apex of the Tamburello chicane; the rebuilt pit exit merges on the run to it.
Turn 3: Turn 3 An unnamed link corner in the fast succession between the Tamburello and Villeneuve chicanes.
Turn 4: Villeneuve (Turn 4) A chicane named for Gilles Villeneuve. Roland Ratzenberger was killed here in qualifying for the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, the day before Senna's crash, when his damaged front wing failed at over 310 km/h.

Turn 8: Turn 8 The climbing link between Tosa and the Piratella corner.
Turn 9: Piratella (Turn 9) A corner between Tosa and Acque Minerali, generally identified as Piratella; Pierre Gasly hit Zhou Guanyu here in the 2022 sprint.

Turn 11: Turn 11 Part of the same descending section between Piratella and Acque Minerali.
Turn 12: Acque Minerali (Turn 12) A fast, blind, low-grip right-hander whose 1981 chicane was removed in the 1995 rebuild. Ratzenberger's fatal front-wing damage began with a kerb strike here, and several drivers spun here in 2022 qualifying.
Turn 13: Acque Minerali (Turn 13) The second apex of the Acque Minerali double-bend.
Turn 14: Variante Alta (Turn 14) A chicane built in 1974, renamed Curva Gresini in 2021 in tribute to the Imola-born MotoGP champion and team owner Fausto Gresini; Charles Leclerc spun to the wall here in 2022.

Turn 16: Turn 16 The link from the Gresini chicane toward the Rivazza complex.

Turn 19: Turn 19 The unnamed final corner before the pit straight, completing the 19-turn lap.
