The Indianapolis Motor Speedway, in Indiana, USA, hosted the United States Grand Prix from 2000 to 2007 on an infield road course that joined the famous oval and took its banked Turn 1 onto the main straight.

The hard braking zone just after the Yard of Bricks start-finish and the primary passing and incident point of the F1 era: Alonso crashed here after a tyre deflation in 2004, a first-lap pile-up erupted here in 2006, and Ralf Schumacher hit David Coulthard at the start in 2007.

It was the epicentre of the 2005 Michelin farce, when every Michelin-shod team withdrew after the formation lap; the stage for the 2002 Schumacher-Barrichello photo-finish; and the site of Ralf Schumacher's heavy tyre-failure crash in 2004.
