The Circuito del Jarama is located near Madrid, Spain. It hosted the Spanish Grand Prix nine times between 1968 and 1981, in 1968, 1970, 1972, 1974, 1976 to 1979 and 1981. A tight, twisting layout with numerous corners and short straights, it was the setting for the closely contested 1981 race, won by Gilles Villeneuve by little more than a tenth of a second over four chasing cars.
