Turn 1: Turn 1 The braking zone at the end of the main straight where cars scrub from around 320 to 100 km/h, a prime overtaking spot leading straight into Turn 2.
Turn 2: Turn 2 A slow right-hander feeding the fast Turn 3, and the lowest point of the circuit at 671 metres.
Turn 3: Hortaleza (Turn 3) A fast right-hand sweeper named after a nearby Madrid neighbourhood that launches the cars onto the circuit's longest straight, around 837 metres, at over 300 km/h.
Turn 4: Turn 4 A blisteringly fast right-hander where cars reach the circuit's top speed of about 340 km/h along the Ribera del Sena straight.
Turn 5: Turn 5 A major overtaking zone with heavy braking from around 340 to 80 km/h after the long run from Turn 3.
Turn 6: Turn 6 A left-hander that begins the Subida de las Cárcavas, an 8 percent uphill climb into the Cárcavas district.
Turn 7: Turn 7 A blind corner at the top of the Cárcavas climb and the highest point of the circuit at 697 metres.
Turn 8: El Búnker (Turn 8) Named for nearby Spanish Civil War-era fortifications, this corner ushers the cars into the fast, technical Valdebebas section.
Turn 9: Turn 9 A rapid, heavily banked right-hand entry into the Valdebebas section on a downhill stretch.
Turn 10: La Chicane (Turn 10) The first element of a two-part chicane designed to scrub speed ahead of La Monumental.
Turn 11: La Chicane (Turn 11) The second, contra-banked element of the chicane, completing the speed-scrubbing sequence before the banked Turn 12.
Turn 12: La Monumental (Turn 12) The circuit's signature corner, a roughly 550-metre semicircular banked turn modelled on a bullring with grandstands for about 45,000; billed as the longest banked curve in Formula 1, its banking was capped near 13.5 degrees to avoid Indianapolis-2005-style tyre risk.
Turn 13: Turn 13 A heavy braking zone right after La Monumental, dropping the cars from over 300 to about 140 km/h.
Turn 14: Las Enlazadas de Valdebebas (Turn 14) The first of three flat-out linked corners running at high speed through Valdebebas.
Turn 15: Las Enlazadas de Valdebebas (Turn 15) The longest of the three linked high-speed corners.
Turn 16: Las Enlazadas de Valdebebas (Turn 16) The final flat-out corner of the linked sequence before heavy braking into Turn 17.
Turn 17: Turn 17 A heavy braking zone into a tight corner and a clear overtaking point.
Turn 18: Norte (Turn 18) Named after the North Convention Centre, near the tunnel linking the Valdebebas and IFEMA halves of the lap.
Turn 19: Turn 19 A quick left-hander taken at around 260 km/h alongside the IFEMA exhibition halls.
Turn 20: Turn 20 The start of the circuit's slowest section, with heavy braking into a tight right-hander and a significant overtaking chance.
Turn 21: Turn 21 A slow, precise right-hander alongside the exhibition halls that sets up the final corner.
Turn 22: El Parque (Turn 22) The lap's final corner, a 90-degree right-hander near Hall 12 that feeds onto the main straight.
