Watkins Glen International, in upstate New York, hosted the United States Grand Prix from 1961 to 1980. A fast, undulating road course, it was extended in 1971 with the challenging 'Boot' loop.

A tight right-angle corner just after the pit straight, known as The 90; it was the last corner of the old eight-turn course before the pits were moved for the 1971 Boot extension made it Turn 1. Nelson Piquet spun off here in F1's final Glen race in 1980.
